Google's next version of Android, named Gingerbread, is due out some time later this year. Not content with just Gingerbread, though, the folks over at TechRadar have dug up the name of the Android version following it: Honeycomb. TechRadar says that multiple sources have confirmed the name, although details on what the OS will contain is still unclear. They do believe, however, that the update will be more incremental, like Android 2.2 was to 2.1, so it's like Honeycomb will end up as either Android 3.1 or 3.2.
Unsurprisingly, the name follows Google's trend of naming new versions of the Android OS. The name Honeycomb isn't something I would have ever guessed, but then again, there aren't a ton of desserts that begin with H. Personally, I like the sound of Hazelnut, but maybe that's why I don't work at Google. So, who's already excited about what Honeycomb will bring us?
