You probably already knew that today is the day the original DROID's sibling (to be politically correct we won't label its gender), the DROID 2, is launching on VZW.  While the DROID 2 is hitting the streets with Froyo and a bunch of updated specs since its predecessor, it won't be the only member of the DROID family with Froyo.  The original DROID was supposed to be getting an update to Android 2.2 starting last week, but as tends to be the case with these things, the update was delayed.  The good news is that AndroidGuys is reporting several of its readers are starting to receive the OTA update on their devices.  While many DROID toting Android fanatics may already be running 2.2 on their phones, this will be the first official update to 2.2 for the DROID and VZW.  Let us know if your DROID has received the OTA update and if it's running more smoothly.
