The mythical white iPhone 4 has been delayed multiple times since the device's announcement, and now customers will have to wait even longer to get their hands on the white hot device. Apple announced this morning that the release of the white iPhone 4 is being delayed until "later this year." We heard just last week that the white iPhone would be launched at the end of July, but Apple's plans have changed again. The reason for the delay? "Manufacturing challenges," which has been the blame for delays in the past, as well. Apple said that availability of the black iPhone 4 won't be affected by the delay, so at least there's that. The full statement from Apple can be read below:
White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
It's pretty disappointing that Apple keeps delaying the white iPhone 4, especially since there are customers who have been holding off on an iPhone purchase because they want the white model. I'm not sure what exactly the challenge in the manufacturing process is, but Apple needs to get it sorted out soon. Until then, customers could always buy a black iPhone 4 and then sell it when the white model finally sees release. Have any of you been waiting patiently for the white iPhone 4?
