With all of the problems surrounding Apple and the iPhone 4 launch, it's obvious that the company has been having a string of bad luck. That bad luck continues today, as there are widespread reports of iTunes user accounts being hacked. Having your account hacked is never a good thing (as anyone who's ever had their Gmail or Facebook account send out spam can attest), but the worst part of this story is that users are seeing hundreds of dollars being spent on books by Thuat Nguyen on the App Store. Nguyen's books account for 42 of the top 50 books in the App Store and are going for $4.99 a pop. The books are mostly in Vietnamese, have nearly zero customer reviews, and are probably infringing on a few copyrights, too (look at all of that Dragon Ball). With a company name like "mycompany" and a website listed at "www.home.com", Nguyen certainly isn't making it hard to believe that his books are part of a large hack attack.
Apple hasn't commented on the situation yet, but I'm surprised that something like this could get by them. I checked my user account and haven't been hacked, and I would recommend that you do the same to make sure you haven't been unknowingly spending cash on these apps. It's really strange how all of this bad luck has been hitting Apple, all at once. Next thing you know, iPads are going to start spontaneously combusting.
