We knew it was coming today, and now iOS 4 is officially available for anyone running iTunes 9.2. Many predicted that the new OS would be available around 1 PM EST, and those predictions turned out to be accurate. iPhone 3GS owners can now enjoy multitasking, folders, home screen wallpaper, and several other new features. Owners of older devices can download the update as well, but they won't be getting all of the advertised features, most notably multitasking. There are already several apps available that can take advantage of iOS 4's multitasking, such as Dropbox, Pandora, and Foursquare.
Although I've been using an AT&T-compatible Nexus One for the past couple of weeks, I'm excited to try out iOS 4 on my iPhone 3GS. The ability to multitask with a non-jailbroken device will be great to have, however limited it may be. Now we need to see a new, less obtrusive notification system, Apple! Maybe we'll get it next year with the release of iOS 5... If you have an iPhone and want to try out iOS 4, make sure you're running the latest version of iTunes, back up your device, and hit the "Check for Update" button!
