While Motorola has planned an update to Android 2.1 for the CLIQ sometime in Q2 this year, some users didn't feel like waiting any longer. Two developers, going by the names "travisjames" and "barakinflorida," took the work from the Android Open Source Project and used it to create an Android 2.1 ROM for the CLIQ. The devs have gotten essential functions, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, and vibration, working in their Alpha3 build of the ROM. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that this ROM does not have any sort of MOTOBLUR skin on it. We're sure that the ROM will continue to be updated and become even more functional, at least until Motorola is able to roll out the official update. Until then, users can always rely on the Android hacking community to produce all kinds of interesting ROMs, updates, applications, and changes to the OS to pick up where they feel the manufacturers left off. Will you CLIQ or DEXT owners be downloading this ROM?
