While the EVO is certainly a hugely popular device right now, it appears that Sprint may have misstated the sales figures for the device. The carrier initially said that the number of EVOs sold on launch day was triple that of what the Palm Pre and Samsung Instinct sold in their first three days on market. Sprint confessed earlier this morning that actual sales figures were not so high and that they were actually "in line with the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined." Previously, analysts had predicted that Sprint had sold between 250,000 and 300,000 EVOs, and now that number has been lowered to around 150,000 devices. While it is significantly lower, 150,000 EVOs sold is still a very good launch. The device is sold out everywhere and has received a ton of praise and hype, which should help keep the EVO selling well for a while. Now Sprint just needs to work on getting the EVO on the shelves so that it can continue selling devices and funding the buildout of its WiMAX network.
