There is some shuffling going on at Sony Ericsson and the company has sent out a press release announcing it has a new Chief Technology Officer. Sony Ericsson has appointed Jan Uddenfeldt as the new CTO of the company, effective on July 1. Uddenfeldt is currently both the senior vice president and the senior technology officer to the CEO of Ericsson, so he certainly has the experience for the new position. The new CTO job isn't all that Sony Ericsson has in store for Uddenfeldt, though, as he will also be assuming the newly created role of Head of Sony Ericsson Silicon Valley at the company's Redwood Shores, CA office. The Silicon Valley office is one of four major research and development facilities for Sony Ericsson, with the others based in Sweden, Beijing, and Tokyo. Speaking about the promotion, Uddenfeldt said that he was happy to joining Sony Ericsson and that "decision to strengthen Sony Ericsson in Silicon Valley is a natural one as the area is the epicentre for the development of mobile operating systems and application software.”
