More often than not, the big news in the industry revolves around the top four US carriers; Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, respectively. And while leaks and rumors keep us on the edge of our seats waiting for the next best thing, the smaller regional carriers don't seem to get as much attention. Lately, however, that seems to be changing as the little guys remind us they have some tricks up their sleeves as well.
Last month U.S. Cellular began to tease via various social media networks, the pending arrival of the HTC Desire to their network this summer. Now Cellular South is showing that the little guy can dance too. Last week they posted that they'd be getting a device that would be a "true game-changer" and yesterday they posted somewhat of a riddle on Facebook (below). If you piece together the first letter in each sentence, you get the word Milestone, as in Motorola Milestone. Here in the states it's more commonly referred to as the Motoroloa Droid, Verizon's first - heavily marketed - Android device. I'm guessing Verizon has the rights to the name "Droid," as they've used it in the new HTC device as well, and clearly US Cellular is calling their device something different.
It's not an official confirmation until Cellular South spells it out loud and clear, but this is about as close to confirmation as you can get. There's no word on exactly when the device will come out or what the pricing will be, but I'm sure updates will be coming somewhat regularly as Cell South is trying to play with the big boys.
