TCL and Verizon have teamed up to launch the TCL 10 5G UW, the first TCL-branded 5G smartphone in the US.
The new TCL 10 5G UW features a 6.53-inch 2340x1080 display with HDR10 video playback. TCL also touts that the display uses its NXTVISION technology that can convert SDR to HDR in real time.
There's a hole-punch in the upper-left corner of the screen where the 16MP selfie camera lives, and around back is a triple camera array. It includes a 48MP main camera along with an 8MP super wide angle cam with 118-degree field of view and a 5MP macro camera for close-up shots. There are LED flashes on either side of those cameras and a fingerprint reader below them.
Inside the TCL 10 5G UW lives a Snapdragon 765G which enables both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G. There's 6GB of RAM included as well, plus 128GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot. A 4500mAh battery powers the phone and fast charging over USB-C is available.
TCL has given its new device a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a feature we don't always get on new phones, and the TCL 10 5G UW is running Android 10 out of the box. TCL is promising at least one major Android OS upgrade plus quarterly security patches for at least two years.
Finally, the TCL 10 5G UW is available in a Diamond Gray color option that has an attractive, prism-like design on its backside.
The TCL 10 5G UW will launch at Verizon on October 29 at a price of $399.99, making it one of the most affordable 5G phones in Verizon's lineup. It supports both Verizon's low-band 5G Nationwide coverage that's available in 1,800 cities in the US as well as its 5G Ultra Wideband, the super-fast millimeter wave version of 5G that's in parts of 55 cities.
