Samsung has officially revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 2 but has said very little about its specs, only confirming the 7.6-inch inner and 6.2-inch outer display sizes. We don't have to wait until Samsung's September 1 event to find out everything inside the Z Fold 2, though.
A new report has spilled the full spec list for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. According to WinFuture, the main display will be a 7.6-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2208x1768 and a 120Hz refresh rate, while the outer display will be a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED panel at a resolution of 2260x816.
It's expected that there will be three 12MP rear cameras on the Z Fold 2. The main 12MP cam will have a 1.8µm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and dual phase detection autofocus, while the other two cameras will be 12MP ultra wide and 12MP telephoto snappers. There's also a 10MP hole-punch selfie camera on the main display.
Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the combination of a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, 12GB of RAM, and a 4500mAh battery, which is slightly larger than the 4380mAh battery in the original Galaxy Fold. Samsung is expected to include 256GB of built-in storage, half that of the original Fold, and unfortunately there will not be a microSD card slot.
Other notable specs of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 include dual stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 5G support, and Android 10 with Samsung's One UI 2.5 overlay. Fast charging is supported both wired and wirelessly, and you'll be able to use the Wireless PowerShare feature to charge up other Qi-compatible devices with the Z Fold 2.
The size of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is said to be 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9mm. To compare, the original Galaxy Fold measures 160.9 x 117.9 x 6.9mm.
Based on what we've seen and heard so far, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is looking like a significant upgrade over the Galaxy Fold. While not everything has been upgraded — there's less storage and the same amount of RAM — the outer display is much larger and the inner display has ditched the notch, giving you more screen real estate. The overall design of the Z Fold 2 looks much-improved, too.
Now that we've got a full spec list, are you interested in the Galaxy Z Fold 2 at its rumored £1,799 price?
