You may not think about the Amazon Alexa app much since you primarily interact with Amazon's assistant using your voice and a speaker or display, but that may change with a new update that aims to make the app more useful.
Amazon today started rolling out an updated version of the Alexa app for Android, iPhone, and Fire tablets (via CNBC). The redesign aims to give you a custom home screen that'll highlight your most-used features, giving you quicker access so that you don't have to go digging through menus to find them.
This means you might see shortcuts to things like your reminders, your shopping list, or an upcoming alarm right there on the Amazon Alexa app's home screen. You'll see content from other apps, too, like recently played Spotify playlists or an Audible audiobook that you're listening to.
The redesigned app is also shifting some elements around to make them easier to find. For example, the Alexa button is moving from the bottom of the screen to the top. Features like reminders, routines, skills, and settings are moving from the menu to a new "More" button at the bottom of the screen.
Amazon says this redesigned version of its Alexa app should be available to all users by late August, so if you're an Alexa user, be on the lookout for this update in the coming weeks.
