Apple Podcasts is one of the most popular podcast apps around, and now its users can access their podcasts on Amazon Echo devices.
Amazon has announced that starting today, Apple Podcasts listeners in the U.S. can hear their podcasts on Alexa-enabled devices. Just ask Alexa for the episode that you want to hear and it should begin playing.
What's more, you can sync your spot between the Apple Podcasts app on your phone and your Alexa device. Just link your account in the Alexa app using your Apple ID and you can pause the subscribed episode you're listening to in the Apple Podcasts app and then pick right back up on your Alexa device by asking the Amazon assistant to resume the podcast.
Because Apple Podcasts is such a widely used podcast app, adding support for it is a big deal for Amazon and its Alexa devices. It's also super handy that you can pause the episode you're listening to on the app and resume it on your Alexa device. Sure, you could always use Bluetooth to play the podcast from your phone on your smart speaker, but now you can just use your voice to play it on your Alexa device rather than having to deal with Bluetooth settings.
