OnePlus made waves when it launched its first smartphone in 2014, offering a "flagship killer" and a really aggressive price. Fast-forward 6 years and OnePlus is unleashing another aggressively-priced smartphone onto the world.
The OnePlus Nord is now official and it starts at ₹24,999 / £379 / €399. For that price you're getting a smartphone with a 6.44-inch 2400x1080 Fluid AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor and Gorilla Glass 5. The Nord is the first OnePlus phone with dual front-facing cameras, including a main 32MP cam with Sony IMX616 sensor and an 8MP wide angle camera with 105-degree field of view.
Around back there are four more cameras available to you. They include a 48MP cam with Sony IMX586 sensor, OIS, and Nightscape for low-light photos. This is actually the same main camera from the OnePlus 8. There's also an 8MP wide angle camera with 119-degree field of view, a 2MP macro camera for close-up photos, and a 5MP depth lens to help you get those portrait mode shots.
Inside the phone is a Snapdragon 765G processor, which includes 5G support. RAM options include 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB depending on which model you choose, and storage is available in 128GB or 256GB capacities.
The battery powering the Nord is a 4115mAh pack. And of course, OnePlus has included its Warp Charge fast charging feature here, which can get you from 0% to 70% in just 30 minutes. Unfortunately, there's no wireless charging present.
NFC and Bluetooth 5.1 are supported on the Nord, but there's no 3.5mm headphone jack. The software is OxygenOS 10.5 with Google apps like Phone, Messages, and Duo, and like past OnePlus phones, the Nord is also equipped with an alert slider on its side so you can quickly silence your device.
The OnePlus Nord will launch in Europe and India starting on August 4. Folks in India can expect pricing to start ₹24,999 for the 6GB/64GB model and go up to ₹27,999 for the 8GB/128GB and ₹29,999 for the 12GB/256GB model.
In Europe, pricing will start at €399 for the 8GB/128GB version of the Nord while the 12GB/256GB model will be €499. And folks in the UK can expect to pay £379 for the 8GB/128GB version and £469 for the 12GB/256GB flavor.
And then there's the US and Canada. OnePlus won't be officially launching the Nord in North America, but it is rolling out a OnePlus Nord Beta Program that'll give 50 lucky people the chance to test and review the Nord, with some folks even getting to keep the device.
You can sign up for the OnePlus Nord Beta Program right here between July 21 and July 28. If you get in, you'll need to give feedback to OnePlus about the Nord and provide an "original, creative, and unbiased" review.
So now that it's official, what do you think of the OnePlus Nord?
