Apple has said that its retail stores will remain closed "until further notice", and a new report says that at least in the US, that'll be the case for at least another month.

Apple has told employees that its retail stores in the US will remain closed until early May because of the coronavirus pandemic. Bloomberg got hold of a memo from Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail and People, telling workers that "flexible work arrangements will remain in place for all offices, and all retail stores will remain closed, until early May."

We previously heard that Apple could begin opening some of its retail stores in the first half of April, but that applies to shops outside the US.

Many places in the US currently have a shelter-in-place order or are asking people to stay home, including Santa Clara county where Apple is headquartered, which currently has a shelter-in-place order that has closed non-essential businesses through May 3rd. Apple Stores are popular places for people to congregate and try out gadgets, and so it's not a huge surprise that Apple has decided to keep its US stores closed for at least another month to help fight the spread of the coronavirus.
