Fitbit is one of the more popular wearable makers on the market, and now that the company is part of Google, there's even more interest in its new devices. And this week a leak has revealed what Fitbit has cooked up.
The Fitbit Charge 4 has leaked out, and it doesn't look too far off from the Fitbit Charge 3 that launched in late 2018. Images shared by WinFuture show a rectangular display with a vertical orientation, Fitbit branding below the display, and what looks like a rubberized band.
Just because the Fitbit Charge 4 looks like its predecessor doesn't mean it won't have new features, though. Today's leak claims that the Charge 4 will have a built-in GPS, letting you track your runs and other workouts without you needing to bring a phone along.
Also rumored to be included with the Fitbit Charge 4 is NFC to enable Fitbit Pay mobile payments, an OLED screen that'll display in black and white, and an IPX8 rating that'll enable the wearable to be waterproof up to 50 meters.
On the software side, it's expected that you'll be able to get notifications and operate Spotify from a connected smartphone. Fitness tracking will of course be included as well as sleep tracking, activity reminders, and women's health features. It's also said that the Fitbit Charge 4 will have a feature called Pulse Zones that'll let you see where you were particularly active during a workout session.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is expected to launch in Europe at a price of €149 ($166 USD). It's also rumored that a Fitbit Charge 4 SE model is coming at a price of €169 ($189 USD) that'll include the same features as the regular Charge 4 but include extra bands.
Because Google only bought Fitbit four months ago, we may not see a huge amount of Google influence on this Charge 4. This new model still looks like a solid upgrade for fans of Fitbit wearables, though, especially with the addition of built-in GPS that can let you lighten your load a bit by leaving your phone at home but still being able to track your workouts accurately.
