After weeks of teasers, the OnePlus TV was made officially official today.
OnePlus's first smart TV is the OnePlus TV Q1. It's available with a 55-inch model to start with a QLED screen and a resolution of 3840x2160. OnePlus touts that the screen has a Smooth Motion Rate of 480 and that there's Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG compatibility included.
When it comes to sound, the OnePlus TV Q1 offers a 50W output with 2.1 channel sound, a woofer, and support for DTS-HD, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Digital Plus. The sound is also the one difference between the OnePlus TV Q1 and OnePlus TV Q1 Pro. While the regular model has four speaker units, the Pro model steps up to eight speaker units and also gets a sliding soundbar that appears at the bottom of the display.
The OnePlus TV Q1 runs Android TV and it comes with a Chromecast built-in as well as Google Assistant, but it also works with Amazon's Alexa assistant. OnePlus is adding in some software features of its own, too, like OxygenPlay, a hub where you can access content from the most popular providers.
To control the OnePlus TV Q1, you'll use a small remote with a directional pad at the top and dedicated buttons for things like the Google Assistant and Amazon Prime Video. OnePlus will also offer a OnePlus Connect app that'll let you use your smartphone as a remote, complete with the ability to type out your searches on your phone, quickly switch between apps, and a feature called Smart Volume that'll detect when you're getting a call and automatically lower your TV's volume, then raise it back up when you're done.
The OnePlus TV Q1 is only launching in India right now, with pricing set at 69,900 INR ($985 USD) for the OnePlus TV Q1 and 99,900 INR ($1,408 USD) for the OnePlus TV Q1 Pro with retractable soundbar. OnePlus has said that it's working to launch the OnePlus TV in North America, Europe, and China, but there's no word yet on when those releases might happen.
OnePlus also plans to sell a couple accessories for its smart TV. They include the OnePlus Dock, a circular base for the TV, and the Farfield, a microphone that sits on top of the TV and will let you "easily give voice commands to your TV and enjoy a hands-free experience." No pricing for the accessories has been announced.
