After launching its 5G home broadband in select cities last year, Verizon today shared a few more details on its mobile 5G rollout.
Verizon says that it will roll out its 5G Ultra Wideband (UWB) coverage in more than 30 cities in 2019. However, it didn't specify any of the cities included in that rollout. The carrier has said that its 5G UWB coverage will use the 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) standard.
Of course, a 5G network isn't much good without devices to use on it. Verizon has so far confirmed three 5G devices that it'll launch in the first half of 2019. Those include the 5G Moto Mod for the Moto Z3, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, and the Inseego MiFi 5G NR mobile hotspot.
AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile will all be rolling out mobile 5G coverage in 2019, so it's no surprise to hear that Verizon will do the same. While we don't yet know exactly which cities will be the lucky ones getting Verizon's mobile 5G in 2019, at least we do know that more than 30 cities will get the coverage this year. Stay tuned and we'll get you the names of the cities as soon as possible.
