We've seen manufacturers come with with several different ways to add edge-to-edge screens to their phones and still include a front camera. There have been notches, hole-punches, and secondary rear screens. Pop-up cameras are another way to do it, and that's what Vivo has used on its newest phone.
The Vivo V15 Pro is official, and Vivo claims that it's got the world's first 32MP pop-up selfie camera. Vivo says that the camera can pop out in just 0.46 seconds and that it's been tested to elevate more than 300,000 times without issue.
The pop-up mechanism isn't the only major camera feature of the Vivo V15 Pro, though, as it's also got a triple rear camera setup. This includes a 48MP Quad Pixel Sensor that offers an f/1.8 aperture and "four-in-one pixel" tech to combine four adjacent pixels into a single large 1.6um pixel, giving you clearer 12MP photos. Also included in the triple rear camera setup is an 8MP AI super wide angle camera and a 5MP depth sensing camera.
Vivo has also crammed an octa-core Snapdragon 675 processor into the V15 Pro along with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 3700mAh battery. The display is a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2340x1080 and an in-display fingerprint sensor. There are microUSB and 3.5mm ports, and dual SIM slots are included as well.
The Vivo V15 Pro runs Android 9.0 Pie below Vivo's custom Funtouch OS 9 software, which includes some special additions. One example is Competition Mode for gaming, which allocates sytem resources to prioritize your game performance.
Vivo is now taking pre-orders for the V15 Pro in India ahead of its launch next month. Pricing is set at Rs 28,990 ($408 USD).
