The good: Clear service, majorly awesome phones, awesome features like TV/RadioThe bad: Customer service goes home at 7:00, service not so good in rural areasSummary: I used to be with Cingular, started in 6/2006. Great service in Alexandria, however service in Glenmora is spotty at best. Also, customer service needs an upgrade....badly. It took two months to get my deposit back to me, and even then their customer service goes home at 7:00. You have to call on their hours.I heard all the commercials for Centennial, and switched. See my review on them, LOVE IT!!!!

GRRRRRR

Posted on: December 18th, 2007 by Malia Davison

The good: they do replace broken phones...sometimes with other broken phones, but they eventually replace them. The bad: Customer Service - where did they find these people??? Are they all related to Homer Simpson? No Coverage, Pricey, Dropped Calls, the list goes on and on and on.Summary: Since moving, I have no reception in my home other than one square foot upstairs in my bedroom, or leaning forward in the recliner, nearly falling on my face in the living room. Each time I call them they tell me they can't hear me and can I call them on a land line...DUH!I only have cell phone service and this is it!Last person I talked to had mush for brains, I felt like I was teaching a kindergardener by the third time I explained it to him.Requested a refund, no luck with that. They charge for ALL text messages, the ones you send and the ones you receive. If you ever have an issue you need to talk to customer service about, take notes, in fact, just lable an entire notebook "AT&T" because you are going to need dates, case numbers, FULL names, phone numbers, fax numbers, etc. They have computers, but I don't think they know how to use them.

Don't trust anything they say

Posted on: December 8th, 2007 by P vP

The good: rolloverThe bad: They lie to get business, they lie to keep business, getting charged for incoming text from spammers, dropped calls.Summary: I walked into an att store and explained to the clerk that I needed cell service in rural areas. She claimed to have the perfect setup for me. I double checked that I would have rural service. She said it was their newest system (GSM) and that I will get service everywhere. I was sold. When I found myself on the edge of town needing to call for help, I was without service. I called to inquire about the lack of service coverage I was told that if I wanted extended coverage I would need dual band service. "Oh, OK" This required me to purchase a new device. I was then hammered with roaming charges because I changed my service. I was not told this change was made. I then had to change to their older service network to avoid roaming charges. Again purchasing a new device. I eventually paid my $275 and got the hell out. I went to Cingular. Then I was sold back to ATT. I patiently waited until my contract ran out. For the past 3 months they stopped send my e-bills to my bank who autopays them. When I discovered this I promptly signed up for e-bills again and they bank is again autopaying it. However they want payment today eventhough the bill says due the 12th. If I don't pay I could have service disruptions and be charged to turn it back on. I told them they could just cancel my account. I was told they could not cancel my account unless I paid in full today. I was not going to pay them twice so I hung up. I was then able to cancel my service by calling back no bill pay required. They will nickel and dime their customers and most people don't notice.

No Problems

Posted on: November 27th, 2007 by Michael Patterson

The good: Reliable service, never a dropped call, just never have any problems. Call quality is excellent. The bad: Store personel are not the most truthfull. When I have had an issue, I dont call customer service. They are very polite and respectfull but the issue just wont get resolved through them. Go to the store. Summary: Recently found the need to restrict the numbers dialed out on a phone and wanted the dreaded TEXT MESSAGING turned off. ( 2 teenage sons ) I was told at the store nearest me by more than 1 sales person on numerous occasions that this was not allowed. Instead, they suggested I wait for their "Smart Limits" service to be made available. For a cost of 6.00 per phone this could be done. I went back to the store I had always done business with before and suggested to them that I would have to cancel the contract and pay the early termination fee so that I could go to a carrier that would not charge me a monthly fee for deleting a service that was included free in my calling plan. Also suggested that it made them look extremely greedy and uncaring to their longtime customers. When I left the store, text messaging and internet were shut off on all 3 phones and was told to buy Samsung or Motorola phones to restrict calls to numbers in the phonebook. See, no problems...another satisfied customer. Need to improve service in outlying areas...badly. If you are on a major highway or metro area, no problem. Out in the boonies a little bit, sucks.

I Tried to Upgrade My Phone FIVE Times

Posted on: November 24th, 2007 by Beth Beth

The good: Coverage and no dropped calls. The bad: Customer service people don't know what they're doing and don't follow through.Summary: I have had Cingular/AT&T since 2000. I will no longer use them. I tried to upgrade my son's phone via the internet, an option I'd sucessfully used before. Something was wrong with the website, so I decided to go back another day. I received the same error code for a week, so I called customer service. They received the same error code and took my order over the phone for a worse deal than I could have received online. A week later the phone hadn't arrived. I called and they placed another order for my phone. This happened THREE times! I never received the phone, so I went back online, and by this time the website wasn't giving me an error message, so I ordered the phone online. I never received the phone although FedEx says it was left outside my door. I called AT&T to tell them that the phone was stolen or lost, and they said they'd put in a order to have a new phone sent. Four days later I called to find out the status of the phone. It had never been ordered or shipped. I spoke with no loss than EIGHT customer service reps thinking that someone would get it right. No such luck. Now I have to wait 8-10 working days to get a credit for the money I paid for the phone I never received. I am trying to cancel my two-year subscription that I had to enter into when I ordered the phone I have never received. I will NEVER use AT&T again.

No problems for me.

Posted on: November 17th, 2007 by Anonymous

The good: Nations largest network. Coverage, rollover, reliable. No dropped calls. Selection of phones. Iphone. I may benefit more since I do live in a slighty more populated area, so I am never without service as opposed to customers that live in more rural areas. The bad: Customer Service I have to admit could use an upgrade. It seems that some reps could be more knowlegable. I feel this could be an influence of the rapid increase in customer growth and finding enough customer service reps is hard because the customer base is growing so fast and its hard to keep up with. higher rate plan prices.Summary: Its funny that there are so many bad reviews on here for new at&t. I am thinking that since we are the nations largest network that we would assuming have more bad reviews that say a smaller company because we are drawing from a much larger customer base. these 20 something bad reviews represent like .00000004 of at&t customers.I ve never had a dropped call, whiles others on here state the opposite. I feel this might be due to location because I ve never had problem with service and seem to be the only one with signal when others would not. I noticed that the bad reviews written on here are due to customers who have had very bad experiences with us, whiles the others that have a good experience dont bother wasting there time because I believe that At&t's services speaks for itself. And about the rollover minutes. Yes they do expire, but that is after a full calendar year. If at anytime you use all of the minutes in your current monthly plan.....the first rollover minutes that would be used would be the first mintues from the first month that you accumulated them from. If you dont use them at all, when would you ever use them? They are always accumulating. Also if it is so much of a hassle, you could always call into customer service and demand them that you keep your rollover mintues when switching to another plan. Problem is that people dont ask until its to late.Maybe I feel this way about at&t because I ve never had another cell phone provider. So far, so good. Even with slighter higher prices, seems like at&t is doing quite well. O and the iphone is amazing and apple chose at&t for a reason. Its crazy to think that people would pay their cancellation fees with their companies to purchase an iphone for another $600 dollars when it first came out.

AT&T Is Bad Business

Posted on: November 10th, 2007 by G Yoho

The good: They offer landline, cell phone, and internet service. The bad: Customer service is the worst.Summary: Before AT&T took over BellSouth & Cingular I received good service and was very happy then AT&T came along and things got very ugly. Their customer service is anything but a customer service dept. They tell you things that are not true just to make a sale and this past week I even had a representative accuse me of trying to do something illegal because I was being so insistant with her about correcting a problem. That was, I repeat, was, the last straw. If you have any options at all for using another service I highly recommend using someone other than AT&T.

NEVER EVER GET AT&T

Posted on: November 1st, 2007 by Janet Miller

The good: NoneThe bad: Customer Service is horrible, Reception is horrible, All Around HorribleSummary: Unfortunately I have to use AT&T for my home phone and DSL since they are the cheapest and pretty much the only provider in my neighborhood.Since I already had those two services with them, I thought I might as well add the cell phones. Boy, was that a mistake. The have a customer service for your home phone, a customer service for your cell phone and a customer service for combined billing. The unfortunate thing is that none of these departments know what the other one is doing. Since I had a Unity Plan which ties your home phone and cell phone service together, it made an even bigger mess. They couldn't figure out what plans I purchased and what I am supposed tp pay for. It took me two months and probably about 30 different customer service reps before I finally found somebody that was knowledgeable. These reps are very cocky, they hang up on you and treat you like you are some kind of dirt bag. And their supervisors aren't any better. It takes forever to get one f them on the line and then they don't really want to talk to you or even they hang up on you. I finaly cancelled my cell phones, so I wouldn't be stuck in this mess for 2 years. I went back to T-Mobile which has excellent service and their customer service doesn't go home at 7pm.

A horrible year with Cingular

Posted on: October 28th, 2007 by Ana Sin

The good: Great rate plansThe bad: What's the point when you barely use your phoneSummary: For the last year I have been having constant problems with my service. Dropped calls, static, phone freezing, not recieving calls, texts, or voicemails just to name a few. I had changed 4 phones because everytime I called and complained they blamed it on the phone and told me the reception in my city is great. I found out recently that they had not been documenting my complaints on my record so they thought it was a recent issue rather than an old one. A few months ago I changed my phone again to an edge phone because they told me that may be the problem since I had an edge sim but an old phone. So I bought a new phone thinking it would get better. It got a little better and I hoped it would stay that way and kept the phone, which meant I renewed my contract for another 2yrs. In the past few weeks service has been absolutely horrible! I was so annoyed and frustrated with it all. I complained a few times a week wanting to cancel but they would not let me. They told me I needed to get 20 people to call and complain about the problem before they would get a tech guy to come out and look at the towers but since apparently I was the only one who had complained out of my entire city, something I highly doubt because a lot of people are having problems w/Cingular, they couldn't do anything about it for the time being. Last night I had had enough. I called and spoke with a woman who was very rude which in turn made me very upset. Up to this pt I had been calm and respectful ea. time I had called but I had had enough. I wanted to cancel my contract and was told I would be charged. I complained that it wasn't my fault that I was cancelling it was their fault. Their service is not working and im pay over $140 a month for a service I can't even use. I had been doing some research and found out that cingular by far has the most complaints from any other carrier in fact it has more complaints than all carriers combined. After that I told her to put me thru to a supervisor which she would not and then she finally agreed, placed me on hold for over 5 mins and hung up on me. I called back asked to speak w/a supervisor very calmly although he was hesitant placed me on hold and repeatedly told me the supervisor was busy. In the end they cancelled my contract w/no early termination fee and I hope they don't come up w/something else to charge me with.

Going in circles - Getting Dizzy!

Posted on: October 22nd, 2007 by Darlene R

The good: Customer Service Reps always worked with me on any issues and found a way to make it alright. The bad: I was told that the past few weeks the 'usage agreement' they had for cell towers belonging to other companies ended. Service declined from having 5-6 bars down to 1-3. Many dropped calls. Conversations sound as if talking through running fan blades. Is it Short Term?? We can only hope.Summary: I started with AT&T many years ago, became disillusioned, closed account and signed up with PacBell... which became Cingular... then AT&T! ARRRRGH! There were many, many great years until AT&T came into this picture. Connection quality decreased inch by inch over a long span of time although it was still acceptable until most recently. I called the Cust Svc Rep @ 611 and the call failed 3 times! This past 2 to 3 weeks I have had almost 30 dropped calls and those that didn't fail sounded like they were talking through a fan so we had to speak very slowly and often repeated ourselves.I came to this site to review other companies.. Verizon in particular and after reading those reviews I see they are also falling from grace... besides I have 1800 rollover minutes to use up so a few dropped calls may be frustrating (if short term) but also frugal.... and they comp'ed half of my latest bill for the inconvenience if I have to use my landline!I must say that I do hold some sense of allegience with them since this past December when my brother went into a coma for a full month then we lost him. I called to check minutes and they gave us a kitty of 1000 minutes for all 3 family plan phones to share as we had already used our rollovers with family and friends not with their company... then they wiped clean ALL overages for that month and the next month. When it was all said and done... they replenished our rollover with a brand new 1000 minutes.KUDO's Customer Service.... I'm gonna hold on for the ride a bit longer. By the way.. I'm NOT under a contract either. Now let's hustle to fix those towers.
