It’s now been a couple of weeks since AT&T launched the new Cricket Wireless, and the prepaid provider has decided to celebrate by launching a new Android smartphone.
Cricket will begin selling the LG Optimus L70 this Friday, June 6, at a price of $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The L70 includes many of LG’s notable software additions, including the KnockCode security feature and the QuickMemo note-taking add-on, as well as a notification LED surrounding its home button.
When it comes to straight-up specs, the Optimus L70 is packing a 4.5-inch 800x480 display and VGA camera on its face, as well as a 5-megapixel shooter on its backside. Crammed into the L70’s 9.4mm-thick frame is a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8210 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, a microSD card slot, WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz connectivity and a 2100mAh battery that’s powering the whole package.
The Optimus L70 isn’t the most high-end Android phone in Cricket’s lineup, but it does look like a respectable option for folks that want a new smartphone on the cheap. Plus, it comes preloaded with Android 4.4, which is always great to see.
