Back in early May, we got wind that the Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon’s Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx could be nearing release. We never heard anything else about the matter, though, until today when a Motorola executive shed some light on the matter.
Over on his Google+ page, Motorola’s David Schuster has revealed that his company is currently prepping the Android 4.4.3 update for the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. Schuster explains that Motorola ran into issues with the Android 4.4.2 update for those devices, but because they knew that Android 4.4.3 would be close, they decided to delay updating the Droids and wait for 4.4.3 rather than push 4.4.2 and make users wait longer for 4.4.3.
Schuster goes on to explain that Motorola is currently hard at work on the Android 4.4.3 update for the 2013 Droid family. No exact release timeframe was given, but he does say that Moto is working to get the update out “shortly.”
Obviously it’s kind of a bummer that owners of these 2013 Droids are still on Android 4.4, but hey, at least they’ll soon be on the absolute freshest version of Android, likely before most other devices. Here’s to hoping that Motorola can continue its trend of prompt updates by getting Android 4.4.3 to the Droid Ultra, Maxx and Mini quickly.
