T-Mobile finally shed its identity as "the one major U.S. carrier without the iPhone" earlier this year, adding the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and even the iPhone 4 to its shelves. The big magenta operator isn't stopping there, though, as T-Mobile CEO John Legere hinted to AllThingsD today that his company's got more Apple-branded hardware on the way.
"I think there’s a whole array of Apple products that we look forward to carrying," Legere said in a post-Q2 2013 earnings interview. The exec went on to tease that T-Mobile is planning to "expand what we offer from [Apple]," though he wouldn't elaborate what other Apple products T-Mobile intends to carry.
We'll just have to wait to see what other Apple products that T-Mobile has in its pipeline, but the first thing that jumps to mind is the iPad. A cellular-enabled version of Apple's tablet is currently available on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, and so it would make sense for T-Mobile to begin selling the iPad at some point as well now that it's finally got the iPhone on its roster. Exactly when that might happen is still a mystery, but it's rumored that Apple is planning to refresh the iPad with a new look later this year, so it's possible that the Cupertino firm could decide to throw T-Mobile connectivity in there as well.
John Legere isn't the only T-Mobile executive that dropped some interesting news to AllThingsD today. T-Mo CMO Mike Sievert also spoke with the site, revealing that T-Mobile's new JUMP! upgrade program has attracted 700,000 customers since its launch on July 14. The program allows customers to upgrade their device at a discounted rate twice per year in exchange for a $10 monthly fee and their existing device. The ability to frequently upgrade to the latest hardware certainly seems to be appealing to consumers, as Sievert said that T-Mobile is "rapidly on the march to one million" sign-ups.
