The HTC One already touts a feature list that includes a 4.7-inch 1080p display, UltraPixel camera and aluminum-clad body, but today the flagship handset's spec sheet has gotten one bullet point longer. HTC has announced that the One is the first HTCpro Certified product in the U.S., meaning that it offers high-level security with a combination of Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification and 256-bit encryption. There's also VPN functionality, with multiheaded Internet Protocol Security (IPSEC) VPN support coming to HTCpro in the future, as well as MDM APIs that allow for several mobile device management options.
More and more people are gaining the option of bringing their own device to work with them, and now that the HTC One has all of these new business features, it's likely a much more attractive option for anyone that's at a job with a BYOD option. The fact that the HTC One is now HTCpro Certified won't be big news for everyone out there, but it is important to people that use their phones for business, and it could certainly help in HTC's effort to keep sales of the One chugging along now that it's passed the five million sold mark.
