The official Facebook iPad app has been a long time coming (and at one point didn't look like it would come at all), but today it's finally coming to the App Store to make updating your status and creeping on friends from high school on your iOS tablet easier than ever. The new app features much of the same functionality found on the actual Facebook site, meaning that you can play games, chat, and view photos using an iPad-friendly UI. Check out a couple more screenshots of the Facebook iPad app below.
It seems kind of strange that it's taken this long for Facebook to get around to releasing an iPad-specific app, not only because of the popularity of the device but also since Facebook for iPhone has been available since the early days of Apple's App Store. The good news is that it's finally just about here, though, which is sure to please any Facebook addict and upset the developer of any third-party FB iPad app. Facebook has said that its iPad app is coming today, but as of this writing it hasn't popped up in the App Store just yet. We'll be sure to update you when it's there.
UPDATE: The Facebook for iPad app is now starting to appear in the App Store as an update to the previously iPhone-only FB app. The new app (found here) is universal and is version 4.0. Get to downloading! When you're done, don't forget to give us your impressions of how the app is working out for you!
