Verizon broke its first day sales records with the CDMA iPhone last week, that much we know. What isn't clear is exactly how many phones were sold before Big Red stopped accepting pre-orders. A couple of analysts have chimed in with their estimates, with one claiming that up to half a million iPhones were claimed. That estimate comes from JPMorgan analyst Phil Cusick, who believes that Verizon managed over 500,000 sales before closing down pre-orders on Feb. 3rd. Meanwhile, RBC Capital analyst Mike Abramsky doesn't think that the number of iPhones sold is quite that high, claiming that an estimate of 100,000 sold is more accurate.

Whatever the number truly is, it's obvious that Verizon sold a boatload of iPhones to its existing customers, and it'll be interesting to see how many more they sell when non-Big Red customers can order the device, too. It's tough to guess whether or not more non-VZW customers will buy the CDMA iPhone than current Verizon customers did, but it certainly wouldn't shock me. What do you all think?
