It may be a little later than U.S. Cellular initially promised, but today the carrier finally released Android 2.2 for the HTC Desire. The upgrade is available right now from U.S. Cellular's website right here, so if you're a Desire owner, get to downloading! Just be sure to come back and tell us how it went when you're done, ok?
Alongside the Desire, U.S. Cellular's version of the Galaxy S, the Mesmerize, also got an update to Froyo recently. This version, however, isn't quite official. Owners of U.S. Cellular's Mesmerize can now download and install the leaked EA11 build of Android 2.2, which just so happens to already be rooted. If you're feeling brave and want to give EA11 a shot, you can find all the necessary instructions and links here.
While U.S. Cellular may not have the biggest Android lineup around, it's nice to see them continue to churn out updates for the devices that they do offer. Now they just need to update the Apex and Mesmerize, which should both be arriving some time around next month. I just hope that the fact that, since the Mesmerize's Froyo upgrade is nearing release, that means 2.2 for the other Galaxy S devices are coming soon, too. Cross your fingers!
