The ThinkPad has always been a no nonsense type of notebook. And the updated X1 Carbon is exactly that but with just a bit more going on. Meet the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, a 2.5 lbs. super slick ultra notebook that combines power, portability and great functionality.

The X1 Carbon is made with carbon fiber, obviously. This allows the X1 to be amazingly lightweight at 2.5 lbs. It retains all its strength and has even greater durability than its metal counterparts. In the hand, it doesn’t quite feel as impressive as some MacBook Pros. But there’s very little gib in the chassis. Speaking of the chassis, it sits in a 13-inch frame chassis though the display is exactly 14 inches in size. You can equip the panel as either a 1080p or a 1440p panel, both in LCD flavors and they are more rich and brighter than the previous generation.

In terms of productivity and ports, the X1 has two USB-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, microSD and micro SIM. Another hardware feature includes a fingerprint sensor below the keyboard.

Internally, the X1 is packed with Intel 7th Generation, Intel Core vPro processors in the i7 flavor with Intel’s integrated HD graphics. You can equip RAM up to 16GB for all these models and storage starts at 128GB of flash memory and goes all the way up to a 1TB SSD drive in PCIE format. Battery life is ranked in at an amazing 15.5 hours from MobileMark 2014, which makes this one of the longest lasting notebooks on the entire market.

The X1 definitely looks like an awesome machine, especially with its battery life, ports and weight. The X1 Carbon will be available starting in February at $1350 and goes up.
