Last year we saw HTC introduce the U11 Life, a more affordable version of its U11+ flagship, and now it looks like HTC will do the same thing this year.
A new report claims to have spec details for an HTC device codenamed "Imagine Life". The HTC U12+ was codenamed "Imagine", so it's likely that this upcoming model will be the HTC U12 Life when it launches officially.
As for its specs, the HTC Imagine Life is said to include a 6-inch 2160x1080 display and a dual rear camera setup with 16MP and 5MP sensors that have phase detection autofocus and 4K video capture. The front-facing camera will be a 13MP sensor with flash, and it's expected that a fingerprint scanner will be included, too, but it's not clear if it'll be on the back of the phone like the HTC U12+ or on the front.
Inside the HTC Imagine Life is said to feature an octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot will let you add more storage if you need it. Rounding things out are dual SIM slots, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC.
It's unknown when the HTC Imagine Life might debut, but the device described in this leak sounds pretty plausible as a more affordable version of the HTC U12+. It's got a lower-res display, less RAM, and a mid-range processor compared to the U12+. That said, this U12 Life could be a compelling option for folks that want a device like the U12+ but also want something with a lower price tag that the $799 U12+. We'll just have to wait and see how HTC prices it.
