Heads up, Project Fi subscribers, because today Google added a nifty new feature to its wireless service.
Project Fi is launching a feature called Group Repay that’ll make it easy for a plan owner to get paid by the other members of the family plan. With Group Repay, you can have Project Fi calculate how much each plan member owes, whether that’s their individual total of the bill, a fixed amount that you set, or the cost of their data usage above 1GB.
When the bill is ready, Project Fi can notify the members of a plan to pay the plan owner. Group Repay is integrated with Google Wallet, so plan members can tap the payment notification and hit “Send Money” to pay for their portion of the bill. The plan owner can cash out these payments to a debit card or checking account if they’d like.
Handling payments for multiple lines on a group plan can be difficult, and some folks may not like having to ask the other people on their plan for their portion of the bill. Project Fi’s Group Repay simplifies that process by not only calculating how much each person owes, but also by notifying them that their bill is due and making it easy to pay the plan owner. So if you’ve got a group plan on Project Fi, be sure to give Group Repay a look.
One other Project Fi detail worth mentioning is that from June 19th through July 17th, Project Fi plan owners will receive a $35 credit when they add a new Fi subscriber to their group plan.
