We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of Pokémon Go, and developer Niantic is celebrating in a big way.
The Pokémon Go Solstice Event will take place from June 13th at 1:00 pm PT until June 20th at 1:00 pm PT. During this time, players will see increased encounter rates of Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon, discounted Lucky Eggs in the in-game shop, and “huge XP bonuses” for accurate Poké Ball throws.
Shortly after the event, Niantic will release a new update that’ll focus on “collaborative group gameplay features that will get you playing Pokémon Go in fun new ways.” Pokémon Go Gyms will be disabled for a short time to help prepare for these new features.
Finally, Niantic is planning the first real world Pokémon Go event. Pokémon Go Fest Chicago will happen in Grant Park in Chicago, Ill., on July 22nd. Tickets will go on sale at 10:00 am PT on June 19th. During the event, Niantic says that there will be “a ton of exciting festivities,” but it’s unclear exactly what’s in the plans.
