Earlier today, T-Mobile aimed to shake things up a bit more by launching a brand new service called Digits. With it, the Un-carrier aims to unlock the phone number, and make it available across devices, or put a variety of different numbers on a single device. T-Mobile wants to make it easier to handle multiple numbers and devices.

This isn't the first time we've seen something like this, of course. Google had Google Voice, which allowed users on a variety of different platforms to put a single number on their device. And AT&T has NumberSync, which does the same thing.

With Digits, customers will be able to access notifications, like calls and texts, from a variety of different devices, including even from a computer via a web browser. Or they can put their home number, their personal mobile number, and their work number, all on a single smartphone.

It's a great idea, especially for folks who have to carry multiple phones, or just want to be able to leave their phone across the room to answer a call/answer a text.

(Apple has this feature thanks to iOS and macOS, too.)

So after T-Mobile's announcement, it got me wondering: Is this a feature that benefits you at all? I haven't needed to carry multiple phones in a long while, but when I did something like Digits would have definitely made life a lot easier. I hated carrying two phones -- especially since, at the time, my work phone was typically better than my personal one.
