Moto Z owners, a Nougat treat is coming your way soon.
Motorola has confirmed that it’ll begin updating the Moto Z and Moto Z Force to Android 7.0 Nougat this week. The updates will be rolling out around the globe, but the timing will vary by carrier and country.
The update will add compatibility with Google’s Daydream VR platform, which Moto says will make the Moto Z and Moto Z Force the first smartphones from another manufacturer to be certified by Google as Daydream-ready.
Android 7.0 Nougat offers several new features, including improved notifications with quick reply support, better battery and data-saving features, and more. We’ve known for a while now that Moto would be updating the Z and Z Force to Nougat, but we didn’t know when those updates would arrive. Good on Moto for pushing the updates out relatively quickly and making the Z and Z Force some of the first non-Pixel/non-Nexus phones to run Android 7.0.
