Yesterday was big for Motorola, with the company showing off two new Moto Z smartphones and four Moto Mods modules. According to a new leak, though, Motorola’s got even more Moto Z phones and modules in the pipeline.
Images shared by hellomotoHK claim to show an unannounced Moto Z phone, called the Moto Z Play. The device is reportedly codenamed Vertex, which is the Moto phone that leaked out earlier this year alongside the Moto Z (codenamed Vector Thin).
According to previous rumors, the Moto Z Play will be more of a mid-range compliment to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The Moto Z Play spec list is rumored to include a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, 2/3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, a 13-megapixel camera, and a Snapdragon 625 processor. While this will make it less powerful than the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, that means that it could be more affordable than its Moto Z siblings.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on when the Moto Z Play might launch or which parts of the globe will see it.
Also shown in today’s leak are two unannounced Moto Mods. The first is a Pro Camera Mod, which looks to transform the rear of the Moto Z into a full-on camera with a grip, 10x optical zoom, physical camera button, and more. The second is what’s referred to as an “Adventure Mod.” This module looks like it’ll prep your Moto Z for an outdoor excursion, giving it added protection and a waterproof case.
One other detail about these leaked images that’s worth noting is that “Amps” was the previous name for Moto Mods. That’s these leaked images say “Pro Camera Amp” and “Adventure Amp” instead of “Pro Camera Mod” and “Adventure Mod.”
As with the Moto Z Play, there’s no word on when the Pro Camera Mod or Adventure Mod might launch. They look like some pretty interesting modules, though, especially when it comes to the Pro Camera Mod and its 10x optical zoom.
