The iOS 9.3.2 update that started rolling out earlier this week seemed simple enough, bringing some bug fixes to iOS users. However, it looks like the update is causing major problems for some iOS folk.
Some 9.7-inch iPad Pro owners are reporting that their tablet was bricked after they attempted to install the iOS 9.3.2 update. The devices are showing users an “Error 56” message that instructs them to plug the iPad into iTunes, but users report that they can’t restore or update with iTunes. Instead, they just get an error loop.
Apple has chimed in on the issue. “We’re looking into a small number of reports that some iPad units are receiving an error when updating the software,” Apple told iMore. “Those unable to restore their device through iTunes should contact Apple support.”
This is obviously a problem for Apple. Not only is it a big deal that many iOS users are having their devices bricked when attempting to install a relatively minor iOS update, but the issue is affecting owners of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, a new and expensive device. Here’s to hoping that Apple can get the issue sorted out quickly. In the mean time, if you've got a 9.7-inch iPad Pro and haven't yet updated to iOS 9.3.2, you might want to hold off on the upgrade until this issue gets resolved.
