Google usually likes to push out updates to its Android apps on Wednesdays, but now it’s got an update that’s so big, it just couldn’t wait until Wednesday to reveal it.
Google is adding Microsoft Exchange support to the Gmail app for Android, and the update is starting to roll out now. These app updates typically go out in stages, but it just showed up on my Android phone, so you may want to jump into your Google Play app and check to see if the update is waiting for you, too.
Microsoft Exchange support is big because it can cut down the number of email apps that many Android users need on their devices. Lots of businesses use Exchange for their work-related email, and now the employees of those businesses can get their work email in their Gmail app rather than installing a separate app just for that work email account.
