Earlier this month, the Idol 4S and Idol 4 were both leaked by Alcatel OneTouch’s own website. They’re still not official, but today a new report has surfaced to back up the previous leak.
Evan Blass has now shared details on the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4S and Idol 4 that includes quite a bit of spec info. The Idol 4S is said to include a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 AMOLED screen, octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of RAM, a microSD slot, 16GB of storage, 8-megapixel front camera, and a 16-megapixel rear camera that you can launch with a dedicated “Boom Key.” The Idol 4S is also tipped to ship in a plastic box that can be used as a Google Cardboard-compatible VR headset.
Meanwhile, the Idol 4 will be more of a mid-range offering. It’s said to include a 5.2-inch LCD screen, octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
Both the Idol 4S and Idol 4 are expected to launch in May. Their prices will be different, though, with the Idol 4S rumored to carry a price tag of under $400 while the Idol 4’s price point will allegedly be set at $250.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 (both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models) made waves last year by surprising folks with their combination of build quality, solid specs, and affordable prices. Alcatel OneTouch will try to follow-up on those popular devices with the Idol 4S and Idol 4, and if these leaks and rumors hold true, the company could have another pair of impressive phones on their hands. While the Idol 4S’s leaked price will be a bit higher than the Idol 3’s at launch, a sub-$400 price is still pretty good for a phone with the Idol 4S’s spec list.
Today’s report also spills details on several other, lower-end upcoming Alcatel OneTouch phones. Those include the Pop 4S and Pop 4, which offer 5-inch 720p and 5.5-inch 1080p screens, sub-$200 price points; new Pixi phones that include 6-inch, 5-inch, 4-inch, and 3.5-inch phones; and several tablets that range in screen size from 8 to 10 inches.
