One of the most notable new features included with iOS 9.3 beta 1 is Night Shift. When enabled, it automatically shifts the colors of your device’s display at night to make it appear warmer, which should make it easier to use your iPhone or iPad and make it easier to fall asleep. Enabling Night Shift requires you to hit a toggle in the Settings app, but it looks like Apple might make the feature a bit easier to access in the future.
On the iOS 9.3 Preview page on Apple Canada’s website, an image shows a Night Shift button in the iPad’s Control Center. The button shows an image of a lamp, and when tapped, you can choose “Turn On For Now” or “Turn On Until Tomorrow.” Interestingly, the iOS 9.3 Preview page on Apple’s US website doesn’t show Control Center at all.
iOS 9.3 is still in beta, so it’s possible that Apple will add the Control Center Night Shift toggle in a later beta. The other unknown here is if Apple does add a Night Shift button to Control Center, will it be on both the iPhone and iPad or will it be iPad-only? Control Center on the iPad is much larger than Control Center on the iPhone thanks to the iPad’s larger display, so there’s more room to add another button. That said, Apple could probably move the top row of iPhone Control Center buttons closer together and make room for a Night Shift button (see the current iPhone Control Center below). Plus, a lot of folks use their iPhone before bed, and so it’d be smart for Apple to include a Control Center button for Night Shift so folks can easily enable the feature when it gets late.
