LG has a habit of making several announcements and teases leading up to the debut of its flagship phones, and today it’s done just that.
The LG G5 Quick Cover is now official, even though the LG G5 isn’t. LG says that it announced the case before the phone because it’s “known as a company ahead of the times.” This Quick Cover has a window to display info like caller info, time and date, and notifications using the G5's always-on display. What makes it special is that the cover itself is touch-enabled, letting you do things like answer calls and control alarms without opening the case itself.
The Quick Cover itself is a semitransparent mesh cover with a film that has a glossy, metallic finish that LG says adds to the cases “smooth and luxurious look and feel.” This finish also creates “maximum consistency” with the LG G5, the company explains, which suggests that the G5 will have a similar metallic finish.
We’ve seen a lot of special covers from companies like LG, Samsung, and HTC, and it looks like that’s a trend that’ll continue with the LG G5. Lots of folks put cases on their phone to protect their expensive investment, and with this Quick Cover, you can add functionality to your device in addition to keeping it safe. There’s no word yet on how much the Quick Cover will cost, but LG says that it’ll show the case alongside the G5 itself at MWC later this month, so perhaps we’ll learn more then.
