After debuting the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in mid-2015, Samsung has updated both models for 2016.

The Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) have been officially revealed on Samsung China’s website. As you might’ve guessed, the Galaxy J5 (2016) is smaller than the J7 (2016), with the former packing a 5.2-inch 1280x720 Super AMOLED display and the latter offering a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 Super AMOLED screen.

Screen size isn’t the only area in which the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) differ. The J5 (2016) offers 2GB of RAM and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, while the J7 (2016) is packing 3GB of RAM and a 1.6GHz octa-core chipset. The batteries in the two phones are different, too, with the J5 (2016) offering a 3100mAh battery and the J7 (2016) getting a 3300mAh battery.

Both phones offer a 13-megapixel rear camera with flash and f/1.9 aperture, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. They’ve also both got 16GB of built-in storage with around 10GB available to the user, but you can expand on that with a microSD card if you’d like. Both the J5 (2016) and J7 (2016) also offer goodies like dual SIM slots, NFC, and HD Voice.

The Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) will be offered in China, but there’s no word on when or if they’ll make their way to other countries. Boost Mobile did launch the Galaxy J3 (2016) earlier this year, so it’s certainly possible that one or both of these new models will make their way stateside, too.
