Netflix is about to get a bit pricier.
The streaming service confirmed today that the price of its standard, 2-screen plan will go up $1 to $9.99 per month. However, existing customers will continue to pay $8.99 until October 2016. The change is already live on Netflix’s website
Netflix has two other plans that’ll remain at the same price. The base $7.99 plan allows you to stream on 1 screen at a time but does not offer HD. Meanwhile, the Premium plan costs $11.99 and lets you stream on 4 screens at a time.
In an effort to explain the price increase, the official Netflix account on Twitter said that the $1 hike will let it “brig [sic] more great content to users.” Despite that explanation, some folks are likely going to be upset about the price increase. The good news is that if you’re already a Netflix subscriber, you’ll be able to enjoy the $8.99 per month price for another year.
