Earlier today, Google posted a mysterious video and tweet with the hashtag #PayWithAPhoto. The brief video showcased two pieces of sizzling waffles being cooked and served in a box with a Google Photos sticker. Lasting only 9 seconds, the video hints on something about “wafels” instead of its actual spelling—waffles. Connecting this with Google’s line of work, it seems pretty weird and totally unrelated.
It looks like this is simply a marketing ploy of Google to stir things up for their #PayWithAPhoto campaign for Google Photos. To get rid of any confusion though, Google sent a statement to Droid Life to explain that they will be rolling out Google Photos-inspired food trucks through NYC, Portland, LA, and Austin starting July 29. And in order to win a prize, you'll have to find specific items through Google Photos’ stream of photos.
