Fleksy is one of the most well-known third-party keyboards available on Android and iOS, and starting today, anyone can give Fleksy a try risk-free.

Fleksy is now free on both Android and iOS, down from the $0.99 price that the keyboard used to carry. Fleksy explains that making its keyboard for free will allow it to reach a larger set of users and improve the keyboard across all languages.

If you’ve purchased Fleksy in the past, don’t fret, because you’re getting hooked up today. As a way of thanking its supporters that previously paid for Fleksy, the company is giving those users $8 worth of new themes and extension slots.

In addition to going free, Fleksy is updating its keyboard with a feature called Highlights that will allow the app to help you discover GIFs, stickers, and other content. You simply tap on the auto-recommend hashtag and Fleksy will take you to a page with content that it thinks is relevant.

A lot of smartphone owners are hesitant to spend any money on apps, so today’s move by Fleksy does indeed open its keyboard up to a much larger base of users. And because it plans to offer premium theme packs for the keyboard, it can still make money from folks that want to customize their keyboard to their liking.
