Google began sending the first Project Fi invitations earlier this month, but it looks like it could be a while before everyone that wants to try the service will get their own invites.
Google is sending emails out to would-be Project Fi users to update them on the invitation rollout, saying that it’s sending invites as quickly as possible while also “ensuring ah high-quality experience.” El Goog estimates that, based on the number of invite requests that it’s gotten, it’ll take until the middle of summer for everyone to get their invitations.
It’s kind of a bummer that it might be a couple of months before we all get into Project Fi, but it’s not surprising that Google is taking it’s time with the rollout. The company probably got quite a few invite requests, and considering that this is a new type of service that switches between two cellular networks and Wi-Fi, Google likely wants to make sure that everything works as intended before opening the floodgates.
Have you requested a Project Fi invitation? Have any of you gotten into the service already?
