Hot on the heels of the announcement of its new Idol 3 smartphone, which comes in two sizes and has a reversible design, Alcatel Onetouch today debut another unique Android smartphone.

The Alcatel Onetouch Hero 2+ runs Cyanogen OS, specifically the Android 4.4-based CM11. The software includes a Themes app that’ll let you customize your wallpaper, fonts, icons, boot animations, and more. Also included are camera filters and features and security features like Privacy Guard, which includes controls for your personal data, as well as data encryption and protected apps.

The Hero 2+ will run Cyanogen OS on a 6-inch 1920x1080 display and it’ll be powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor. Also included is a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, 3100mAh battery, 4G LTE, and a stylus.

Alcatel Onetouch says that the Hero 2+ will launch in North American in Q2 2015 at a price of $299 unlocked. I’ll have to wait until we can see how the Hero 2+ performs before making any judgments about it, but $299 seems like a pretty nice price for this 6-inch phablet. And the phone is a big deal for Cyanogen because its OS is coming preloaded on a big, affordable smartphone that could introduce lots of new people to Cyanogen’s software.
