The HTC One Google Play edition devices were originally slated to get Android 5.0 in mid-November, but the update hit a couple of snags and still aren’t yet available. The good news is that that could change in a day or two.
HTC executive Mo Versi says that the Lollipop updates for both the HTC One (M7) and One (M8) are currently in Google’s Quality Assurance lab and that Google is aiming to approve the updates by the end of Monday, December 1. If that happens, Versi explains that the over the air updates will begin rolling out to the devices that same night.
Obviously it’d be nice if the HTC One GPe devices had gotten Android 5.0 earlier this month like originally anticipated, but because we’re still pretty early on in Lollipop’s life, the One GPe phones will still get their updates before most other products. Here’s to hoping that they don’t hit another snag and that HTC One GPe owners get to start their December with a Lollipop treat.
