Sprint's quietly gone and refreshed their mobile portal, launching a
new home page that should already be available on 40 or so of their
handsets. Working with tech partner ChangingWorlds, Sprint developed
an adaptive home screen that's unique for each user - the catch is that
the carrier is mining your use history for the data upon which your
special home page is built.
Most users likely don't care if
they're giving up some privacy (well, you're not really giving up
anything new - Sprint already knows everything Sprint customers do on
Sprint devices) in exchange for a fancy new custom portal. The big
question will be how well the thing works. I'll fire up my new Treo
800w's Web browser and see what I get - Sprint customers, check out
your new home page and report back: How're you liking the new look? Or
are you even seeing it yet? Click on through for the official press release.
