What's sleek, cute, has a touch screen and makes phone calls? No, not that Apple thing ...
Neonode has issued a press release announcing the "global launch party" for their N2 handset, to be held July 5 in Athens, Greece. The N2 has been anticipated in the cellphone community for a few months now primarily for its open platform operating system and next-gen optical touchscreen.
The N2's spec sheet includes quad-band GSM and Bluetooth connectivity, a 2MP camera and media player with expandable miniSD memory, and a diminutive 42x77x14.7mm body that weighs just 60g. While the 2" touschreen display is relatively low-resolution at just 176x200 at 65,000 colors, the appeal of a small, powerful handset powered by a truly open platform is pretty big in the cell phone hacker community. It'll be really interesting to see how the N2 is received, how it performs, and if it can gain any real traction amongst would-be developers.
