Sony Ericsson dropped four new handsets today at a press event in London, including two US models.  While all of the phones are GSM, and so will work on T-Mobile and Cingular in certain parts of the US, only two are officially bound for North America.

The S500 is a 14mm-thick US-bound slider similar to the W580, but without the Walkman branding.  It features "hidden illumination" with a choice of "Mysterious Green" or "Spring Yellow" exteriors, a 2 megapixel camera with an integrated photo blogging app, media player, and EDGE connectivity.  Look for it in Q3 of this year.

SE also announced the T250, a 12.6mm thick candy bar with a "stylish metal finish ... [which] gives it a premium feel that up until now has been the preserve of high end models."  Available in Silver or Black, this low-end phone with the high-end feel will carry a VGA camera and FM radio, but no media player (so far as I could tell from the press release).

For me, the big news was the P1, the long-rumored successor to the M600i smartphone.  Previously thought to be called the M610 or P700i, P1 features a thin candybar design, touchscreen, and rocker-key QWERTY board just like the M600i.  P1 runs on UIQ and brings Wi-Fi and VoIP connectivity and a 3.2mp camera to the mix, along with handwriting recognition, support for a plethora of push email clients, and stereo Bluetooth.  It's a tri-band GSM handset that will work in areas of the US, but will not support 3G networks in the States.

And rounding out the bunch is the T650, a 12.5mm thick candybar phone featuring a 3.2 mp camera, media player, and (you guessed it) European 3G connectivity.  The T650 will be housed in a stainless steel casing in your choice of Growing Green or Midnight Blue (what's up with these color names?) and pack a scratch-proof mineral glass display.  If you don't mind the lack of US-spec 3G, you should be able to pick this GSM beauty up from your favorite importer in Q3 of this year.
