WIth the bad news (for Apple fans) that Apple has pushed back the release of their next-generation computer operating system in order to get iPhones into your hands by the end of June, comes some possible good news.  A $50-150 rebate may be in the works to help lessen the blow of iPhone's $499 (4 GB) and $699 (8 GB) price tags.

While this is mere rumor at this point, it does stem from one of those fancy technology analysts.  Then again, those guys don't have the best track records when it comes to predicting the behavior of Cupertino natives.  Still, any mention of lower-cost iPhones is good news: I'm a longtime Mac user and think Apple does user interface and industrial design better than anyone in the business, so I'm very excited to get my paws all over an iPhone.  Still, I'm not about to plunk down $700 for a phone, especially when it has neither 3G data nor a QWERTY keypad (not to mention a 5 megapixel camera) on-board.
